Bringing Communities Together One Treat at a Time Bake sales are more than just opportunities to satisfy our sweet cravings—they are occasions that bring people together, spark creativity, and positively help communities.
On the 5th of December, HELLO Trust hosted a bake sale in Harrow Shenzhen—a follow-up to previous baking activities. This event aimed to raise money for X-Link 公益艺术空间. This charity supports people with disabilities through art and music both mentally and physically, providing an open platform for them to express their talents, thoughts, and emotions. A group of passionate HELLO Trust volunteers gathered to make this happen, marking the second collaboration between Shenzhen and Hong Kong members.
On the 30th of November, all volunteers were split into three groups, working across Hong Kong and Shenzhen to get everything prepared and ready to go. Everything went smoothly and collaboratively during the baking and preparation. 100 cookies for each flavor—chocolate, cream, and matcha—were successfully baked. On the actual day, each volunteer sacrificed their own time to help set up the tables and equipment for the sales. The sales were divided into two-time slots: morning break and lunch break. Straight after the lessons, students hurried to the terrace with anticipation and joy for the cookies and hot chocolate. The atmosphere intensified when the aroma of premium chocolate permeated the air. Students lined up, waiting for their turn to enjoy the flavorful little picnic.
The bake sale ended with the lingering scent of cookies, and everything we baked was sold. A total amount of ¥1600 was raised for the charity. Thoroughly, bake sales are more than just opportunities to satisfy our sweet tooth—they are occasions that bring people together, inspire creativity, and contribute to the community and people in need.
Let’s cherish the opportunity to hold these events to gather people to create the power of community and generosity.
