🎃Halloween for Advocacy🎃

On October 26, HELLO Trust Shenzhen hosted a warm and engaging Autism Awareness event, thoughtfully designed to coincide with the Halloween season. The gathering brought together children, volunteers, and supporters for a morning of interactive games, creative expression, and musical performances - all in service of fostering inclusion and building meaningful connections.

The event opened with an icebreaker activity known as 大风吹 (The Wind Blows) . Participants stood in a circle, and whenever the host called out a characteristic, those who shared the trait swapped places. The simple yet effective game helped ease everyone into the space, encouraging laughter and lighthearted interaction among children and volunteers alike.

Following the warm-up, the group moved on to the “Who Am I?” game. Each participant received a card with a word written on it - visible to everyone except the holder. Paired with a volunteer, each child described the word without naming it directly, using accumulated hints to make a correct guess. After a spirited round of deduction, the Yellow Team emerged as the first to guess correctly, sparking a friendly competitive energy that carried through the morning.

The highlight of the event was a costume design challenge. With the support of HELLO Trust volunteers, children worked in teams to design original outfits using fabric, paper, and decorative materials. Each team selected one member to serve as their model. With 15–20 minutes to complete their creations, the groups worked quickly and creatively. The session concluded with a 10-minute runway show, where each team presented their design. Attendees voted for their favorite outfit, and the Orange Team took home a small prize in recognition of their originality and effort.

To close the morning, participants and volunteers were treated to live musical performances. A 葫芦丝 (Hulusi) ensemble delivered a traditional yet stirring performance, followed by a saxophone solo that captivated the room. The music provided a calm and uplifting end to a morning filled with activity and intention.

Throughout the event, HELLO Trust members worked closely with the children - not as instructors, but as facilitators and companions. The focus remained on participation, creativity, and mutual respect, reinforcing the organization's commitment to supporting neurodiverse children through student-led, community-centered initiatives.
