Around 90 elderly participants joined HELLO Trust Nanning for a creative community activity celebrating connection, care, and the joy of making something by hand.

Sometimes, the simplest activities create the most meaningful moments.

HELLO Trust Nanning recently organised a paper flower-making activity for around 90 elderly participants aged 60 to 90. Ten HELLO Trust members joined the event, working alongside participants to create handmade paper daisies.

Creating Together, One Flower at a Time

Using colourful paper, scissors, double-sided tape, and paper cups, participants worked together to cut, shape, and assemble their own paper daisies. HELLO Trust volunteers provided hands-on assistance throughout the activity, helping participants complete their flowers at their own pace.

The activity welcomed elderly people with different needs and mobility levels, including participants who used wheelchairs. With volunteers on hand to offer support, everyone had the opportunity to take part and enjoy the creative process.

As the flowers gradually came together, simple craft materials became something more personal: handmade gifts created through patience, teamwork, and shared moments.

Small Gestures, Meaningful Connections

For the HELLO Trust Nanning team, the experience was a reminder that community engagement does not always require elaborate plans or resources. Taking time to sit alongside someone, offer a helping hand, and create something together can itself be a meaningful expression of care.

Each paper daisy represented a small gesture of warmth. More importantly, the activity gave volunteers and elderly participants an opportunity to spend time together and share an enjoyable experience.

Building Stronger Communities Through Care

At HELLO Trust, we believe that community service begins with understanding the people around us and finding practical ways to support them. Through initiatives like this, our local branches aim to create opportunities for young people to engage with their communities and contribute through thoughtful, hands-on activities.

We are proud of HELLO Trust Nanning for bringing this initiative to life and creating a welcoming environment for elderly community members to participate, connect, and create.

Sometimes, a little flower is more than just a flower. It is a reminder that care can be expressed through the smallest things we do for one another.
